ADHD
Adults and children can both struggle with an ADHD diagnosis and symptoms. You may have been dealing with this for a long time, may be navigating a recent diagnosis, or may be seeking a valid diagnosis. Counseling can help. You can learn what ADHD entails and begin to recognize your own specific challenges and how to cope.
Anxiety
Anxiety can be a part of life. When if begins to feel overwhelming or out of control, it may be the right time to seek help. Overthinking, panic, or psychical symptoms may be a sign that you could use some extra support.
Depression
Depression can make daily life a struggle. Counseling can help you manage these feelings and increase your own functioning. You may need a calm and validating place to process and find the support and coping skills that work for you and your unique needs.
Trauma
Trauma is our personal response to distressing events. You may have been intensely impacted by situations out of your control. Trauma can look different for each person, your experience is valid. Trauma is a wound and healing is possible.
Modalities
While my main modality is Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, I offer a variety of techniques to meet your needs. Some other options include EMDR, DBT, Parts Work, Narrative Therapy, and a person centered approach.
Healing
Counseling can help you to get to a point where you can live in acceptance and heal. My work as a counselor includes helping you co-regulate and learn the skills you need to take control, avoid unnecessary suffering, and find the peace you want.
GET TO KNOW Courtney
Psychology has been my focus for a long time and a personal goal of mine is to continue to de-stigmatize mental health issues. I aim to create a welcoming and safe space for all my clients.
Therapy is your personal journey and I am honored to join you as your guide. I always see you as the expert on your own life. I focus on Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. Mindfulness will help you focus on the present and the situation at hand, cognitive therapy will help you focus on how you have internalized thoughts, the root of those thoughts, and how to make those thoughts work for you. Mindfulness and cognitive therapy can help us all to respond rather than react.
I’ve read so many self-help books and psychology books, looking for that insight to “fix” me or figure out “what’s wrong with me”. I get how difficult those feelings are! I have not made it this far on my own, and you do not have to either. Reaching out for help is hard AND so beneficial. I love working with teens and adults so they are not alone on their journey and to help them realize they don’t need to be fixed!
I will meet you where you are at. I am here to help you apply all those books I have read to your life! My approach is to help you gain awareness, insights into your self and your life, and how to apply helpful tools and self-compassion to difficult times.
My goal is to cultivate an open-minded and accepting atmosphere. I welcome all people and views, with a non-judgemental approach. I embrace your experiences, culture, and identity to foster acceptance and connect.
I offer FREE 15 minute phone consultations so you can decide if I am the right fit for you!
Same of my favorite sayings include:
“You are not your thoughts.”
Peace upon the mountain top is easy, finding peace amongst the chaos is the challenge.
“Shoot an arrow of truth dipped in honey.”
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from University of Maryland and my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Midwestern State University. I have been trained in EMDR and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, am an LGBTQIA+ affirming counselor, and have experience working with teen clients through counseling work at Children’s Home Society of FL and experience working with adult clients through my work as a counselor at Solace Counseling and Coaching and Gardner Counseling.
